New Delhi, Nov. 16 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted bail to two former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmakers and Lal Krishna Advani's former aide Sudheendra Kulkarni along with two other accused in the 2008 cash-for-vote case.
"The high court has granted bail to all BJP members including three lawmakers and Sudheendra Kulkarni and Sohail Hindustani. Their stand was also vindicated that they were whistle blowers. It was also proven that they had helped a news channel to undertake the sting operation," confirmed Anil Soni, a lawyer.
"Today also, they stand by their statement. Our clients are saying that they would continue their fight against the real beneficiaries of the scam, the UPA Government, until they are chargesheeted," he added.
Soni further informed that the court had also granted anticipatory bail to another BJP lawmaker Ashok Argal.
"The court has also given anticipatory bail to our client BJP MP Ashok Argal. The court also asked him to pay Rs. two lakh as a surety bond and he will have to be present whenever he is called for investigation," he added.
The cash-for-votes scam had rocked proceedings in the Lok Sabha in 2008, when the ruling UPA Government, led by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, allegedly bribed lawmakers of other parties to help winning the confidence vote. (ANI)
