Diabetes epidemic: 1 out of 10 adults are likely to be diabetic patient by 2030

The Diabetic epidemic is likely to go worsen as the time passes due to sedentary life style, rising competition and stress level, increasing obesity problem and habit of taking excessive fast foods and junk foods, 'The International Diabetic Federation' predicts in its global study.

On the day of 'World Diabetes Day' (November 14), this global organization has issued a report in which it has estimated that 552 million people could have diabetes by 2030 that means at least one in 10 adults could be diabetic patient in the next two decades.

According to its reports, at present an estimated one in 13 people could have diabetes.

This figure has been calculated by including both types of diabetes, sexes, all age group, continents, races and cases that are undiagnosed.

Supporting the study facts of International Diabetic Federation (IDF), World Health Organization (WHO) states that at present approximately 346 million people could have diabetes and more than 80 percent of deaths occur in developing countries. WHO projects that diabetes deaths is likely to double by 2030, so it is possible that IDF's predication can be possible.

Why Diabetes is being an epidemic?

The biggest reason behind it is it's lack of awareness amongst people. According to IDF, appox. 183-million don't know they even have diabetes. Neither they go to the doctors nor take preventive measures to curb the effects of diabetes. Most of the people usually go to the physician when they develop other sorts of complexities pertaining to this diseases and at that time, the diabetes level reaches to very advance stage and uncontrollable.

Obesity, lack of physical activity, ageing, wrong habit of taking food, rising stiff competition and worsening depression & stress level and heredity are the major factors behind Diabetes disease development.

Risk Factors

Nowadays, diabetes is not only developing amongst adults but in minors too. The rising figures of diabetic minors are worsening the situation and it is an extremely alarming condition.

Warning to the world, WHO says, "Something needs to be done?.otherwise diabetes can economically destroy any country."

Besides, minors, men and women, diabetes can affect neonatal babies and an diabetic woman can deliver big babies weighing above 8 or 9 pounds.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a chronic disease in which the level of sugar rises in the blood and reaches to every cell though blood flow. The higher level of blood gradually decays the function of the organs and mostly affects to the most vital organs like kidney, heart, brain, eyes, leg muscles and lever.

Why does it occur?

Whenever the pancreases becomes fail to secrete insulin hormones or it secretes inadequate insulin hormones or when body becomes fail to reacts glucose due to any reasons, the level of glucose rises in the blood and harm the cells where it exists and also harms some specific organs. Insulin allows glucose to move from the blood into liver, muscle, and fat cells, where it is used for fuel. Due to absence or lack of insulin, glucose cannot move into cells, so it stays in the blood. This not only harms the cells that need the glucose for fuel, but also harms certain organs and tissues exposed to the high glucose levels. The higher level of glucose also excretes through urine too.

What it does?

The higher level of blood sugar can affect the functions of specific organs including muscles and nerve, retina, heart and kidney .

Complications:

Diabetes can double the chances of heart attack and cardiac arrest, heart and kidney failure, blindness, gangrene, and nerve damages. In diabetic women, it can affect the development of foetus in the womb and affected lady can deliver bigger size babies.

Diabetes in India

The diabetes epidemic in India is at very high alarming stage, we can even say that India can be the capital of world in diabetes. According to a latest survey, conducted by a prestigious pharmaceuticals company in the metropolitan cities of India, one in five Indian adults could have diabetes in which the city of Mumbai has maximum numbers of young diabetic patients between the age group of 18-30.

Solutions:

Awareness, active life style, closeness to nature, stress-free life, balanced healthy diet and regular exercise, yoga and meditation can curb the rising chances of diabetic epidemic only.
