Addu (Maldives), Nov 11 (ANI): On the concluding day of the 17th SAARC Summit, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met his Nepalese counterpart Baburam Bhattarai and Afghan President Hamid Karzai separately.
In the half an hour-long meeting with Bhattarai, Dr. Singh discussed various issues of mutual interest.
Dr. Singh later met with Karzai to discuss key bilateral issues including militancy that has engulfed the region, leading to the disruption of peace.
The security situation in the region, particularly in Afghanistan, is also said to have figured in the talks.
India is one of Afghanistan's biggest bilateral donors, having pledged about two billion dollars since the 2001 U.S led-invasion for projects from the construction of highways to the building of the Afghan parliament.
India has trained a small number of officers from the Afghan National Army and had offered to train its officers in Afghanistan as well. (ANI)
