London, November 11 (ANI): The Global Language Monitor has found that the most used words this year were 'Occupy', 'Arab Spring' and 'Steve Jobs'.
Their findings were based on a study of the Western English language media and the Internet.
In what could be seen as a sign of the times, the top words in 2010 were 'Spillcam', 'Vuvuzela' and 'The Narrative, reports The Telegraph.
However, the top three phrases in that year were 'Anger and Rage', 'Climate Change' and 'The Great Recession'.
'Arab Spring' also made it into the top three words on television in 2011 along with 'Royal Wedding', which got the top spot.
Surprisingly, the killing of Osama Bin Laden didn't make it to the top of any word list in 2011.
The Texas-based Global Language Monitor also compiles Word of the Decade and found out that Global Warming, 9/11 and Obama were the top three most-used words in the past 10 years. (ANI)
