One part of it is kept at home and the rest of it is distributed to relatives and friends. And most of all the importance of this Eid is that we get an opportunity to meet our relatives and friends and our near and dear ones," said Abid Ahmed, a resident.
Locals were seen doing their last minute shopping by buying clothes, sweets, snacks and goats that would be used for the sacrificial ritual.
"People from nearby districts like Anantnag and all the other areas come to Srinagar, and they come to Lal Chowk. There is a lot of rush today and there is a lot of vehicular traffic as well. Whichever route you see there is a lot of vehicular traffic and people face a lot of problem," said Sajad Ahmed, another resident.

"As compared to last year, the business is good this year. Last year the business did not do well because of the situation in the valley and it is by God's grace that this year the business is doing well," said Rouf Ahmed, confectionary shop owner.
Muslims celebrate Eid al-Adha by offering prayers early in the morning and along with friends and relatives they sacrifice an animal, commemorating the willingness of prophet Abraham to sacrifice his son to God.
