Dehradun, Nov 2 (ANI): Union Science and Technology Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has said the Lokpal Bill would be presented before the Parliament in the upcoming Winter Session.
Speaking on the sideline of an event here, Deshmukh said: "There was still a month left for the winter session of Parliament to begin and the government would present the Lokpal Bill then."
He said that there would not be any delay as all the political parties are supporting the bill.
"It is like this. It will happen in the next session because the bill is in front of the standing committee, after that it will be presented in front of the cabinet, then it will be brought into the house and there will be debate on it. I feel that all political parties are supporting it, so there won't be any issue. And they won't have to sit on this issue," he added.
Seventy-three-year-old Anna Hazare, who is doing most of his communication in written during his maun-vrat or 'vow of silence', has written a new letter to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, warning him that he will begin another hunger strike if the Lokpal Bill is not passed in the Winter Session of Parliament.
The Winter Session of Parliament will begin on November 22 and ends on December 21.
The Lokpal Bill is meant to combat corruption among public servants. But over the recent months, serious differences have emerged between the government and Team Anna with regard to the powers of the Lokpal and the selection of its members. (ANI)
