'Pakistan committed to peace and stability in Afghanistan'

Islamabad, Mon, 31 Oct 2011 ANI

Islamabad, Oct 31(ANI): Pakistan has decided to present its upright stance in the US-sponsored Istanbul conference on Afghanistan, slatted for November 2.

Sources have said that Pakistan is committed to peace and stability in Afghanistan, but it would not support any proposition that undermined its national interest.

"Islamabad would convincingly present its case that Afghan-owned and Afghan-led reconciliation process is the key to lasting peace, and will leave it to United States to support it or reject it," sources told the Nation.

The conference will discuss issues relating to the transition process in Afghanistan, including Afghan security and the reconciliation process.

The ministerial-level conference is being attended by the US, Pakistan, France, Germany, Afghanistan, Turkey and the NATO countries as well as representatives of the United Nations. (ANI)
