Mathura, Oct 21 (ANI): Mothers belonging to the community of Radhakund kept a fast for the well being of their sons on the occasion of 'Ahoi Ashtami' in Uttar Pradesh.
Many parents gathered at a temple pond known as 'kund' at dusk to offer their prayers.
According to belief, a woman who had seven sons unintentionally killed a young one of an animal in the forest, making her feel guilty enough to neglect her children.
It was when she worshipped Goddess Bhagwati in repentance that her sons regained their health.
Since then, mothers of Radhakund Brahmin families wake up before dawn, visit the temple to offer prayers and commence their fast.hey break their fast after dusk when the moon appears.
'Ahoi Ashtami' is observed a week before Diwali. (ANI)
