Varanasi/Dehradun, Oct 11 (ANI): Dismissing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Lal Krishna Advani's 'Jan Chetna Yatra', actor Shekhar Suman on Tuesday mockingly said that if this was the solution to eradicate corruption in the country, then every person should board a chariot and go on a tour to fight corruption.
"If scams could have been eradicated by taking out Rath Yatra's, then we all should take out a chariot tour everyday. People should come out of their homes on a chariot and corruption would be vanishing. Corruption is such a thing which cannot be tackled by speeches or these chariot tours," Suman told media persons in Varanasi.
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State for Agriculture Harish Rawat condemned Advani for spreading communal violence and hatred.
He stated that it doesn't matter which vehicle Advani used, they would always be drenched with the blood of innocent people.
"No matter what vehicle Advaniji uses, whether he terms it as a rath (chariot), people will always see it in a negative light. The wheels of that chariot will always be seen drenched in the blood of innocent people. This country has two members in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Lal Krishna Advani and Narendra Modi, who will always be associated with communal violence and hatred," Rawat told media persons in Dehradun.
"Hence, it doesn't matter whether he goes on a chariot tour or an air tour, it won't affect the political scenario in the country," he added.
Advani began his 38-day "Jan Chetna Yatra" from Bihar"s Sitabdiara village to take on the UPA Government on the corruption issue and press for return of black money stashed away abroad.
Advani"s much-hyped journey is going to encompass 23 states, four Union Territories, which will include 100 districts and 7600 kilometres.
The yatra will see Advani boarding 14 special aircraft and six helicopters. He has to visit a total of 46 places across the country. The 38-day long yatra will conclude in Delhi on November 20 in the form of a massive rally.
However, many political parties have claimed that Advani"s procession was motivated by the upcoming general elections to be held in 2014.
Advani had organised a similar yatra in the 1990"s, to mobilise support towards building a temple dedicated to Lord Rama in Ayodhya.
In 2004, he had taken out another chariot procession to reiterate the demand to build the Lord Rama temple in Ayodhya. (ANI)
