Ankara, Oct 11 (ANI): Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari met Turkish Parliament Speaker Cemil Cicek here today and held delegation level talks with him.
The two leaders discussed on improving trade and economic ties between India and Turkey.
Vice President Ansari was presented with a photograph of his great grand uncle Dr M A Ansari by the Turkish Parliament Speaker.
Dr M A Ansari had led a medical mission to Turkey in 1912 to provide aid to the Turkish army in the Balkan War.
The delegation level talks were followed by a lunch hosted at the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA) by Cemil Cicek.
Vice President Ansari, who is on a five-day visit to Turkey, earlier today met Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Vice-President's visit will provide an additional impetus and momentum towards further consolidation and strengthening of the comprehensive partnership between India and Turkey in areas of mutual interest to mutual benefit, also reinforcing close traditional and historical friendship between both countries.
India's relations with Turkey have a historical bearing. The links between both countries are civilisational, encompassing architecture, arts, language and cuisine.
Vice President Ansari will address a Business Forum at the Turkish Chamber of Businessmen and Industrialists in Istanbul. hile in Konya, Ansari will be conferred with an Honorary Doctorate for International Relations by the Mevlana University. By Praful Kumar Singh (ANI)
