London, Oct 6 (ANI): Samsung has filed patent infringement claim against Apple's new iPhone 4S in order to stop it from being sold in France and Italy,
The Korean mobile makers allege that, "Apple has continued to flagrantly violate their intellectual property rights and free ride on their technology," the Daily Mail reports.
"We believe it is now necessary to take legal action to protect our innovation," a spokesperson said, adding that the company picked those countries for 'local legal processes'.
The paper also quoted a Samsung executive as saying that 'Samsung plans to take Apple to court for its violation of Samsung's wireless technology related patents.'
This comes in response to Apple's continued legal action against Samsung's Galaxy family of touchscreen tablets and smartphones, some of which are currently illegal in Europe.
Apple claimed that they were 'slavish' copies of its iPhone and iPad.
According to Colin Fowler, IP law specialists, Samsung's lawsuit marks another step in the war between the world's two biggest smartphone producers.
Fowler pointed out that if Samsung is successful in obtaining injunctions in the courts of Milan and Paris, Apple would be concerned about which countries are next on its hit list for similar claims. (ANI)
