Islamabad, Sept 29(ANI): A Pakistan's senior defence official has said foreign forces in Afghanistan were responsible for carrying out the recent cross border attacks in Dir and Chitral.
According to the official, foreign forces formed a Coalition Special Operation Force (CSOF) to 'directly and indirectly attack security forces and civilians in the bordering towns of Pakistan'.
His claims came after American news website the Long War Journal confirmed earlier that the CSOF was targeting the Taliban in Afghanistan's Nuristan province.
The official said Pakistan has filed a complaint with the US and Nato against the attacks.
"We are waiting for their reply," he told the Express Tribune, while requesting anonymity.
A senior foreign affairs official confirmed that Pakistan's security official fired several rockets as a 'retaliatory action' on militants in Afghan's Kunar province.
Though Pakistan's Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government has repeatedly blamed US and Nato forces in Afghanistan for sponsoring Dir and Chitral attacks, the country's foreign affairs ministry refrains from making such claims.
"Islamabad is aware that the Afghan government is not responsible for the border violations," the foreign office source told the Express Tribune.
Pakistan's foreign office believes that peaceful ties between Islamabad and Kabul are ultimately beneficial to Afghanistan, he said. (ANI)
