London, Sept 22(ANI): The family of the murdered British-Indian bride, Anni Dewani, has petitioned the country's Home Secretary Theresa May to ensure the woman's husband and businessman, Shrien, is extradited to South Africa.
The petition, which is believed to have been signed by over 11,000 people, was handed by Dewani's twelve family members to the Home Office.
Shrien,31, is wanted in Cape Town on the suspicion of masterminding his wife's murder.
Belmarsh Magistrates' Court had earlier said that Shrien should be sent to South Africa to face trial.
But final decision would be taken by Theresa May by October 10, Mirror.co.uk reports.
"We need closure for this case and we demand that. Tell us the truth of what happened to Anni and why. That's all we want to know. We are waiting for the answers and the only way we can get these answers is by Shrien going to South Africa and giving us the answers." Dewani's father, Vinod Hindocha said.
He said he had faith in the British judicial system and that his family is "quite confident" that Home Office would help them in the case.
Dewani, 28, was shot dead in an apparent car-jacking in Gugulethu in Cape Town during her honeymoon trip on November 13.
Taxi driver Zola Tongo, who has confessed to his role in the crime, calimed that he was paid by Dewani, who had masterminded the carjacking.
Dewani, who is said to be suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder, has so far denied his role in the crime. (ANI)
