Manesar (Haryana), Aug 30 (ANI): The crisis at India's top car maker Maruti Suzuki's Manesar Plant in Haryana further intensified on Tuesday when the management terminated more workers from its factory unit.
"They are making us fill an undertaking form, which means that if we face any problems, then we cannot raise any objections against them. They are making us sign a 'No Objection form', wherein any kind of laws by management can be imposed and they also want us to sign a 'good conduct form'. No company in India has ever imposed any such form on their workers," said Kamal Singh, employee at the press department in Maruti Suzuki.
The workers also said that the management has tried to manoeuvre laws as per the interest of the company.
"This is not a strike. This is an illegal lock out by the management. We cannot call this a strike. Yesterday, in an illegal way, the management suspended and terminated 21 workers and today they have terminated and suspended 28 workers illegally," said Sunil Dutt, Maruti Suzuki Employees Union Executive Member.
Around 800 workers had gone on a 13-day strike at the same plant in June this year, crippling production and leading to more than 90 million dollar in lost output.
Shares in Maruti, valued at about 6.8 billion dollar, closed 0.4 percent lower in the Mumbai market that jumped 3.6 percent. (ANI)
