Washington, Aug 30 (ANI): Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, paid a visit to the IMF's Washington headquarters to say goodbye to staffers and to have a short meeting with his replacement, Christine Lagarde.
According to an IMF statement, its current managing director Lagarde, met with Strauss-Kahn before he met with staffers, the Telegraph reports.
Paulo Nogueira Batista, who represents Brazil on the IMF board, described the meeting with staffers as warm.
"It was a very emotional, warm farewell. Strauss-Kahn received lengthy applause when he entered the IMF auditorium and after he concluded his remarks," Batista said.
The global lending institution earlier emailed staff at the fund's Washington headquarters to announce Strauss-Kahn's impending visit.
The email said Strauss-Kahn wanted to say goodbye.
The visit came five days after New York prosecutors formally dismissed charges of attempted rape and criminal sexual contact against him. (ANI)
