Farrukhabad (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 21 (ANI): Stating that it was an honour for him to have been considered for negotiations, Union Law and Justice Minister Salman Khurshid on Sunday the Prime Minister and the party president will decide on who will speak to the civil society activists.
"No minister can go for talks unless authorized by the Prime Minister. If they (anti-graft activists) have taken my name, I consider it an honour and am grateful for it. However, it is the Prime Minister who chooses the spokesperson, the time and the agenda of the government as far as the dialogue is concerned," said Khurshid.
"Our Prime Minister and the party president will sit together and arrive at a decision, and who ever they select will be required to do the needful," he added.
Veteran social activist Anna Hazare's supporters have expressed, off the record, a desire to speak with Khurshid. They have also said that they do not want to negotiate with Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal.
The 74-year-old social activist is on a fast-unto-death protest along with thousands of his supporters at New Delhi's Ramlila Maidan for a strong Lokpal Bill. (ANI)
