Rahul Gandhi welcomes Chiranjeevi to Congress

New Delhi, Aug 20(ANI): Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) chief and famed Telugu actor Chiranjeevi on Saturday became a Congress party member, two months after his party announced its unconditional merger with the Congress party.

Chiranjeevi was welcomed by Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad at a function at the Congress headquarters in New Delhi.

"Its an honour to be a part of the Congress party. I will be an active worker of the party," Chiranjeevi said.

Chiranjeevi had earlier said that the decision to merge was taken keeping in mind the "best interests" of the people of Andhra Pradesh as both the Congress party and the PRP fight for social justice. (ANI)
