New Delhi, Aug 12 (ANI): President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has greeted the nation on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, which is being celebrated tomorrow.
"On the joyous occasion of Rakshabandhan, which symbolizes love and mutual trust between sisters and brothers, I express my warm greetings and good wishes to all my fellow citizens in India and abroad," said President Patil in her message.
"May this festival strengthen fraternal feelings and the spirit of kindness and goodwill in our society, as we strive collectively for the well-being of our people," she added.
The festival, which will be celebrated all across the country tomorrow, celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters.
Rakshabandhan occupies a special place in the Hindu religious calendar.
The central ceremony involves the tying of a rakhi (sacred thread) by a sister on her brother's wrist. This symbolizes the sister's love and prayers for her brother's well being, and the brother's lifelong vow to protect her. (ANI)
