New Delhi, Aug 12 (ANI): Vice President M. Hamid Ansari has greeted the people of the country ahead of the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan.
In his message, Vice President Ansari said the festival promotes harmonious social life by reaffirming our faith in the traditional values of love and protection.
He has called upon the people to imbibe the ideals associated with this festival to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in our lives.
"I convey my greetings and good wishes to the people of our country on the auspicious occasion of Rakshabandhan. Rakshabandhan is celebrated all over the country to strengthen the fraternal bonds of affection between brothers and sisters," said Vice President Ansari.
"The festival promotes harmonious social life by reaffirming our faith in the traditional values of love and protection. Let us imbibe the ideals associated with this festival to foster the spirit of amity, harmony and goodwill in our lives," he added.
The festival, which will be celebrated all across the country tomorrow, celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters.
Rakshabandhan occupies a special place in the Hindu religious calendar.
The central ceremony involves the tying of a rakhi (sacred thread) by a sister on her brother's wrist. This symbolizes the sister's love and prayers for her brother's well being, and the brother's lifelong vow to protect her. (ANI)
