Mumbai, Aug 4 (ANI): The parents of slain television executive Neeraj Grover met Maharashtra Home R.R. Patil here on Thursday to seek the best legal assistance in the shocking murder case.
Neeraj Grover's father, Amarnath Grover, along with his wife, Neelam and family friend Ashoke Pandit, met Patil at his official residence to discuss the case and urged him to help them hire the best lawyers to enable them to get justice for their son's brutal murder.
Amarnath Grover after the meeting said that Patil had promised the best legal assistance in the case, and suggested the Grovers to meet eminent lawyer Ujjwal Nikam, who is the chief prosecutor in the case against Mumbai terror attacks convict, Ajmal Kasab.
"The Home Minister has assured us that he will give us the best possible assistance in the case. He also proposed the name of renowned lawyer, Ujjwal Nikam, as our counsel. I got to know Nikam's name through the media and lets see whether he agrees to fight our case or not," said Amarnath Grover.
Meanwhile, extending solidarity with the Grovers, Pandit lauded the efforts of the police and said it was now important to find a strong counsel who would effectively present the facts before the court.
"We told Patil that the police had conducted an efficient crackdown in the case. Now, we should not fail or falter in our presentation of facts in the court. We want the best possible legal assistance in this," said Pandit.
A Mumbai Session Court had sentenced Maria Susairaj to three years, while her boyfriend Emile Jerome Mathew, a former Navy Lieutenant, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the Neeraj Grover murder case.
Maria had already served a sentence of three years and therefore she was set free.
