New Delhi, Aug 4 (ANI): Congress President Sonia Gandhi has undergone surgery in the United States.
Making a bare announcement, Congress General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi, told reporters that the 64-year-old leader was recently diagnosed with a medical condition and has been advised surgery.
"On the advice of her doctors, she has travelled abroad and she is likely to be away for two-three weeks," he said, Doordarshan reports.
A core group has been constituted in her absence to look after her functions.
It comprises Defence Minister A K Antony, her political advisor Ahmed Patel, her son and party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi and party spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi. (ANI)
