Islamabad, Aug 2 (ANI): The fourth round of trilateral talks between Pakistan, United States and Afghanistan will be held in Islamabad today.
The meeting would focus on stabilizing the conditions of the region especially cross border terrorism between Afghanistan and Pakistan, the cause behind which is still a discord, and intelligence sharing between the three countries, The Express Tribune reports.
US Special Representative Ambassador Marc Grossman, Deputy Foreign Minister of Aghanistan Jawid Luddin and Pakistan's Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir will participate in the meeting. Besides, representatives of military and intelligence of the three countries would also reportedly participate.
In the last round of talks in Kabul, Pakistan's Foreign Secretary called for a "need to end this blame-game" between the countries, saying: "We need to take ownership for our own affairs. This problem will not go away if we keep on pointing fingers at each other, we have done it for too long."
During a meeting with US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan, Ambassador Marc Grossman at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Monday, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari had said that clear terms of engagement should be agreed upon between Pakistan and the United States in the war against militants to avoid any kind of unilateral action that could have a serious impact on bilateral relations.
He also emphasized that a long-term relation with the US would be based on mutual interest, trust and mutual respect. (ANI)
