Rajkot, July 31(ANI): Students took out a rally in Rajkot, Gujarat, on Sunday to promote clean and green environment.
The rally was flagged off by District Collector Rajendra Kumar and state Green Movement Ambassador Mandhatasinhji, Prince of Rajkot.
Students, in wake of increasing pollution and use of plastic bags in the city, decided to create awareness among people to plant more trees and stop using plastic bags.
"As we all know pollution is increasing day by day, because of which we are facing so many difficulties. So we took out a rally to create awareness among people telling them how important trees are for us and how important it is to protect our ecosystem as global warming is increasing and also there is depletion of ozone layer," said Khyatri Chawda, student.
Around 150 girls and teachers took part in the rally and walked for 15 kilometres to reach Nyari dam from where water to the city is supplied and planted trees there.
"Our motive is to create awareness about climate change, global warming and global environment problems," said Sonal Shah, principal, Kadvibai Virani School.
On previous occasions similar rallies and campaigns have been organized across the state promoting Green Gujarat. (ANI)
