New York, July 24 (ANI): The lawyer of French writer Tristane Banon, who accused Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexually assaulting her, has revealed that he has met the New York hotel maid who charged the former IMF head with rape.
David Koubbi, who is representing Banon said he met the Guinean-born maid, who repeatedly told him that 'she did not lie' about the alleged Strauss-Kahn sexual attack at the Sofitel Hotel in May.
Koubbi met the woman twice during a trip to America to 'establish the differences and similarities' in the two claims of sexual assault being investigated against the former IMF chief, The Telegraph reports.
Koubbi said questioning the credibility of the maid on the grounds that, she had allegedly made false claims in an immigration application needs to be taken up in the court.
"If she lied during her immigration application, and I do not have the evidence to know if she did or not, it doesn't mean she lied about what happened to her (in the Sofitel), Koubbi was quoted, as saying by the paper.
He also disputed defense claims that there was no medical evidence to support that the maid bore physical evidence of a sexual assault in the form of bruising.
"The defence has suggested her medical file is empty, but I have seen it and I can tell you this is not true. They also say the prosecution case is empty, well I can tell you, having been to the District Attorney's office and seen how many people are working on this case, there's an awful lot of people working on an empty case," he said.
Strauss-Kahn has denied allegations that he attacked the hotel chambermaid and accusations of sexually assaulting 32-year-old Banon when she went to interview him for a book she was writing in 2003. His French lawyers have said they are counter-suing Banon for defamation and describe her accusations as 'imaginary'. (ANI)
