Kolkata, July 18 (ANI): Communist Party of India- Marxist (CPI-M) General Secretary Prakash Karat has said his party does not favour the Darjeeling tripartite accord in West Bengal.
Talking to reporters here on Sunday, Karat said his party's stand is clear.
"We are not in agreement of the nature of the settlement or terms of the agreement," he added.
The Darjeeling tripartite accord signing is scheduled for signing at Sukna in Kurseong sub-division, near Siliguri on Monday.
The tripartite agreement will be signed in the presence of Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
A renewed demand for a separate Gorkhaland region, which would include Darjeeling and some contiguous areas of Jalpaiguri District, has created fresh turmoil over the past few months.
The Gorkha population in West Bengal estimated to be around a million has been demanding a separate state. (ANI)
