New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): The Central Government has deployed five National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams in the flood-hit areas of Assam.
A government release to the media said that the teams have been deployed to conduct rescue and relief operations in the flood-hit areas.
The release said that the water level is touching or exceeding the danger level in the Rivers Brahmaputra , Dhubri, Disang , Jiabharli and Dansiri (S) in Assam.
It said that four districts of Assam-Dhemaji (46 villages), Jorhat ( 25 villages), Lakhimpur (65villages) and Sonitpur (three revenue circles) have been affected by the floods.
The NDRF teams have been deployed from Guwahati .
One team having strength of approx. 40 personnel has been deployed in each of the affected districts of Dhubri, Dhemaji, Jorhat, Lakhimpur and Sonitpur. These teams are carrying specialized equipment to respond in any eventuality emanating from flood emergencies.
The teams are equipped with the flood rescue equipment in sufficient numbers like deep diving equipment, including scuba sets, inflatable boats, lifebuoys and life jackets etc.
The home ministry is constantly monitoring the situation in close coordination with the Assam Government, the government release said. (ANI)
