Grover case: Jerome appeals against conviction, says Susairaj's confession should not be accepted

Mumbai , Sun, 17 Jul 2011 ANI

Mumbai, July 17 (ANI): Former naval officer Emile Jerome, who is in jail for killing television producer Neeraj Grover, has moved the Bombay High Court against his conviction.

Jerome, in his appeal, has blamed co-convict Maria Susairaj, saying that her confession, in which she virtually blamed Emile, should not have been accepted.

According to NDTV, the appeal also says that as Maria was unable to explain what Grover was doing in her house through the night and since the prosecution has not been able to prove the exact time of Neeraj's death, Maria cannot be fully exonerated.

Neeraj Grover was killed in May 2008 and his body was chopped in pieces and burned by Maria and Emile in the jungles of Thane. Emile Jerome's appeal is expected to come up for hearing on July 25. (ANI)
