Peshawar/Multan, July 4 (ANI): Afghan soldiers fired ten mortar shells 800 metres into Pakistan's South Waziristan Agency.
"No loss of life or damage to property was, however, reported. Afghan National Army fired 10 mortar shells on civilians in Angoor Adda area (last Pakistani town on border with Afghanistan) between 1030 hours to 1300 hours at Saturday night," the Daily Times quoted sources, as saying, on the conditions of anonymity.
According to sources, Pakistan has lodged "protest" on the issue with the Afghan government through military and other channels.
Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said the government had taken up the issue with the Afghan Government and added that Pakistan Army Chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir had visited Kabul to discuss the cross-border shelling by Afghan security forces.
"The Government of Pakistan has protested over the border violations and taken up the matter with the Afghan government at diplomatic level" he said.
Angoor Adda has been hit regularly by the NATO and Afghan forces, which remain in the hot pursuit of fleeing Taliban. (ANI)
