Jamshedpur, July 1 (ANI): People, who exercised their voting rights for the bye-election to the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat today complained about inflation and increasing corruption in the state and at the Centre.
Polling for the bye-election to the Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat was held under tight security arrangements. The seat fell vacant due to the resignation of Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda after he won the Kharsawan assembly seat recently.
"I have cast my vote against inflation. The federal government has increased the prices of almost every essential commodity. My main aim of coming to caste my vote is to voice my opinion against inflation," said Prakash, a voter.
Other voters said that they have come to vote without any expectations, as they know the politicians would not address the grievances of the people after they are elected.
"We are casting our votes out of compulsion. After every two elections take place and this will not result in the development of the country. There would be no development and only corruption will occur," said Vidyut Kumar, another voter.
"Go to any office, unless you give money your work is not done. Politicians will come to our houses asking for votes, but after the elections are over, no one will come to us," he added.
Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Sudhir Mahto, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee Dineshanand Goswami, Congress candidate Banna Gupta and Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Suman Mahto, All Jharkhand Students' Union (AJSU) nominee Astik Mahto and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) candidate Ajay Kumar are among those in the fray for the seat.
