London, June 23 (ANI): 'Spider-Man' star Tobey Maguire has been sued for 311,200 dollars he is said to have won in an underground Hollywood poker ring which included a host of other celebrities.
Maguire was said to have won the money in 2007 and 2008 from Bradley Ruderman, a former Beverly Hills hedge fund manager who was jailed for 10 years in January last year, reports the Telegraph.
Ruderman was ordered to pay 27.5 dollars million in restitution to investors after admitting fraud following an FBI investigation.
According to legal papers filed in bankruptcy court in California, by the trustee of Ruderman's fund, he had secretly used some investors' money to pay off his poker debts.
The trustee is claiming the poker games were not properly licensed and therefore wants to recover the money.
A single bank transfer from Ruderman to Maguire in July 2007 was for 110,000 dollars, according to the bankruptcy court papers, which was published by the Radar Online.
The documents did not name other stars involved in the poker ring but US media reports suggested A-list actors had also played high stakes games with Maguire.
TMZ.com reported Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio had all played in games with the "Spider-Man" star in the Hollywood Hills. (ANI)
