Amritsar, June 22 (ANI): Ahead of the foreign secretary-level talks to be held in Islamabad on June 23 and 24, India released six Pakistani prisoners on Wednesday at the Wagah border.
Most of these prisoners were arrested on the charges of trespassing into Indian territory.
Mohammad Arshad, a released prisoner, said that he was leaving for his home after completing a 15-year jail term in India.
"I stayed in prison for 15 years. After completing my term, I am going back and I am happy. I pray that God may send all other prisoners from both the sides to their homes," said Arshad.
It may be mentioned that there are dozens of Indian and Pakistani nationals that are languishing in jails in both the countries.
However, the notoriously slow verification procedure is causing delay in their release.(ANI)
