Prime Minister laid the foundation of six projects, including 3,000 MW Dibang power project, 110 MW Papumpare Project, a rail link between Itanagar and Harmuti, water supply projects for Itanagar and Naharlagun and also laid the foundation of new Secretariat building in Itanagar.
The mega package also include a Rs 5,500 crore 1,840 trans Arunachal Pradesh highway that stretch from Tawang to Mahadevpur.
A brand new airport in Itanagar and reopening of airports at Pasighat, Along, Daporijo, Ziro and Tezu was also announced.
He stressed on four major areas where work has to be done including connectivity, infrastructure, educational and healthcare facilities, and economic development.
Dr. Singh said, “Arunachal Pradesh was a favourite of two of our beloved leaders, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. If Indiraji created Arunachal Pradesh, Rajivji granted Statehood to it.”
But amidst all the projects and development issues Prime Minister remained tight lipped about the Beijing claim on Tawang. BJP unit from Arunachal Pradesh criticised PM’s trip saying he changed his route after being pressurised by China as a visit to Tawang was on the card.
This state endowed with nature’s beauty faces lots of problem without infrastructure and financial resources. Usually a peaceful state but matter such as Chakma –Hajong refujee (from Bangladesh) do create problem occasionally.
