Jakarta, June 16 (ANI): A court here will announce its verdict against radical cleric Abu Bakar Bashir who planned and plotted the 2002 bombings in Bali and the 2003 J.W. Marriott bomb attack in Jakarta.
Stringent security arrangements have been put in place ahead of the crucial trail.
About 3,000 security personnel have been deployed around Jakarta, most of them stationed in the area around the courthouse, The Daily Telegraph reports.
The 72-year-old cleric has accused Australia and the US of playing a major role in having him brought to court and tried on terror charges.
There have been threats of reprisal bombing campaigns being circulated on Twitter and SMS if Bashir is convicted.
Known for his inflammatory rhetoric, Bashir was accused of being the spiritual leader of Indonesia's homegrown terror network, Jemaah Islamiyah, who inspired many of those involved in the bombings. (ANI)
