London, June 15 (ANI): Turkish Football Association president Mahmut Ozgener has confirmed that coach Guss Hiddink will quit later this month to join Chelsea.ccording to The Sun, Hiddink made it clear that his continuing in the job was linked to Ozgener.
Chelsea had hoped to have Hiddink in place by this weekend, giving the new manager two weeks to settle in before pre-season training starts on July 4. But now it looks as if it could be another two weeks before he is released from his contract with the Turks.
Hiddink, 64, who had a caretaker spell with the Blues in 2009, has already been told he will not be allowed to launch a major spending spree when he finally arrives at Stamford Bridge.
Chief executive Ron Gourlay insisted: "As far as players are concerned, the basis of the current team will be the same for next season. There may be an introduction of two or three players and we've identified key players we'd like to bring in. But we'll probably wait until the new coach is in place." (ANI)
