New Delhi, June 1 (ANI): The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, today reviewed issues related to preparedness for nuclear disasters, earthquake, Tsunami in the special meeting of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) here today.
He asked NDMA to put world's best safety measures at nuclear plants.
Fast-tracking of other steps like creation of disaster response forces in places in addition to existing four and procurement of special radiation-detection vehicles were also discussed in the meeting.
He also reviewed functioning of National Defence Response Force (NDRF) whose four battalions are stationed at Noida, Kolkata, Arakkonam (Tamil Nadu) and Pune.
Deputy Chairman Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahulwalia, officials of the NDMA, Atomic Energy Regulation Board, the Department of Atomic Energy and other concerned agencies were attended the meeting. (ANI)
