London, May 28 (ANI): Football legend Diego Maradona has said that Lionel Messi has that X-factor which only the greatest possess, and added that he can be termed as 'new Maradona'.
All eyes will be on Barcelona star Messi at Wembley tonight like they used to be on Maradona every time he had the ball.
He said Messi has that X-factor which only the greatest possess, The Sun reports.
Maradona, who worked with Messi when he was Argentina manager at last year's World Cup, said: "I've heard many times over the years that there is a 'new Maradona'. With Messi, though, I believe the player is equal to the hype. He is an incredible talent and someone who has the unique ability to do things with a ball you don't expect."
"That's what makes him special. All great players can play the game and do things, which make everyone, open their eyes with admiration. But only the truly special can make you gasp as you didn't think what they did was even possible. That is what Messi does," Maradona said.
"We shouldn't only talk about Messi's skill when he has the ball as his game is about much more. He works hard for his team when they don't have the ball and makes life difficult for opponents," he said. (ANI)
