BJP to continue its agitation against corruption: Gadkari

Gorakhpur , Wed, 25 May 2011 ANI

Gorakhpur, May 25 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari has said his party will continue their agitation against corruption at higher level.

Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Gadkari said: BJP will make the people aware at the grass root level on the issue of corruption and price rise."

He said that the law and order situation is worst in Uttar Pradesh while 9 ministers of Mayawati's cabinet have been implicated in the criminal cases.

"The sugar mills are being sold out to businessmen at a throw away price while farmer's land is being acquired for commercial purposes," he said.

"The Congress party had assured to alleviate poverty from the country. But the present situation is such that the Congress is not even providing a helping hand to the poor. Instead, the Congress' hand (party sign) is picking pockets of the public, as it is difficult for the poor to survive the high rate of inflation," he added.

He also alleged that the sympathy shown by Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi towards farmers was meant for political gains only.

'Today Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are talking about farmers' interests. I want to ask them why they are now so concerned about the farmers," he said.

'They (Sonia and Rahul) rested for several years, and now suddenly are talking about supporting the farmers just because the state assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh are nearing... it is all meant only for political interests and gains,' he added.

"However, the question is even after enjoying power for so many years, why didn't the land acquisition law is not in lace. Earlier, why didn't they raise this issue? Now, when election is approaching, the Congress party is all out to show its concern for the public," said Gadkari. (ANI)
