Dimapur, May 23 (ANI): The Ao community in Nagaland recently celebrated Moatsu or the seed sowing festival to invoke god's blessings for a good harvest.
Organized under the aegis of the Ao Naga Students Union in Dimapur, the three day long annual festival was marked by songs that glorify the courage and gallantry of tribal heroes.
"The aim of this festival is to invoke god's blessings for a good harvest. It is usually celebrated among the villagers where people are mostly farmers," said N Panger Jamir, a member of the festival's organising committee.
The festival also helps the young Naga students to learn more about their culture and traditions.
" In near future at least they can preserve the culture, tradition and like even if they come out from the Ao family also, many children do not know from which clan he or she is, so at least they will know or learn something from the group of what all this about," said Merenla.
"We are trying to bring out all this cultural items, which we are not practicing these days, so we are trying to bring out that one and show to the youngsters so that they can practice," said Tali.
Moatsu Mong is also an occasion to strengthen bonds of friendship with other Naga tribes. Delegates from neighbouring villages are invited join in the celebrations. (ANI)
