Lagos, May 12 (ANI): A new study has shed light on the types of things women and men lie about.
Women "lie down" - preferring people to think of them as younger and "lighter" than what they really are and men, "lie-up" boosting their earnings and their height to appear more successful than what in reality they really are, claims Satoshi Kanazawa, an evolutionary psychologist at the London School of Economics.
Sexual conquest is another common lie between the sexes, reports The Punch.
Australian psychologist Nick Petrovic says thanks to societal notions of "sexual prowess" men choose to increase their number of sexual partners and women more likely to decrease them.
Men are also 10 percent less likely to disclose their infidelity than women, while women are more likely to tell lies about other people rather than themselves.
Australian psychologist and author Dorothy Rowe says the more we lie, the further apart we grow from reality. Our relationships never progress because we can't get beyond the surface of things. In other words, when we lie, we just lose ourselves. (ANI)
