Amritsar/Patna, May 11 (ANI): A heat wave has left the residents of Amritsar and Patna distressed.
"The temperature is soaring in Amritsar at the moment. It is equally hot in the morning and the evening, with the temperature rising up to 43 degree Celsius," said Sangeeta, a school student.
People are making a beeline for juice stalls to drink cool juices and sugarcane juice or consuming ice-slush.
In Patna, residents were spotted carrying umbrellas in the streets to protect them from the scorching heat.
According to residents, it is advisable to distance themselves from aerated drinks, and resort to more natural drinks, like mango, sugarcane and bel (wood apple) juices.
"All of a sudden, the temperature in Patna has risen above normal. To seek respite from the heat, one should drink bel sherbet as well as mango juice as it soothes the stomach and protects from excess heat," said Saurabh Kumar, a resident.
Locals are worried over the sharp rise in temperature and fear the advent of summer.
"This is just the onset on summers and the temperature has already reached 43 degree Celsius. We are regularly drinking mango juice as it is very helpful for the common man," said Michael, a resident.
Weather officials have advised people not to go out in the sun between 12 to 4 pm (local time) and to take all precautions. (ANI)
