Jakarta, May 7 (ANI): Indonesian aviation authorities on Saturday said that about 15 people may have died in a plane crash in the country's West Papua province.
They said the plane which was travelling from the coastal city of Sorong to the small port town of Kaimana crashed into the ocean shortly before it was due to land at the airport.
Poor weather is being blamed for the tragedy, the Guardian reports.
According to Indonesian media, airport officials said the MA60 plane, operated by Merpati Nusantara Airlines, crashed 500 metres short of the runway.
There were reportedly 27 people on board, including 21 passengers and six crew members.
Fifteen bodies have been recovered so far. (ANI)
