Poonch/Jammu, May 5 (ANI): In yet another incident of ceasefire violation, troops from Pakistani side fired rocket-propelled grenades and opened fire from Medium Machine Guns (MMGs) and small arms on Indian posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch District on Thursday.
Three Indian posts, which reportedly came under fire, are Kranti, Ravi and Nangi.
It has been reported that the firing from the Pakistani side began at 3: 30 p.m. and continued for one hour.
The top brass of the Indian Army, however, excluding confidence today said the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are alert and fully prepared to tackle any attack post the killing of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.
"I do not see any immediate repercussions in the state as such, but these are issues which only time will tell. What has happened actually is that the Americans have achieved their target, which they set for themselves after 9/11. So it is a global matter," Lieutenant General K T Parnaik, General Officer Commanding in Chief of Indian Army's Northern Command, told reporters at Udhampur near Jammu.
"It is not just concerning India and Pakistan. Pakistan is under considerable pressure for whatever has happened because after all Osama was killed in Pakistan and that raises a lot of questions, which are being discussed in the media, you are all there to hear and see. So, let us wait and see. As far as we are concerned we are fully prepared, we are alert, all the security forces," he added. (ANI)
