Kanpur, May 3 (ANI): A massive fire engulfed a small saddle-making factory in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur city on Tuesday.
According to local reports, half a dozen fire engines reached the spot as soon as they were informed of the incident.
"This is the building near the Gurudwara in which a fire broke out in a saddle-making factory which was operating on its terrace. There was material like leather, foam, etc inside the factory, which caught fire. Fire extinguishing work is on," said Devi Prasad Gupta, a fire official.
Gupta further said though the area is a residential one, small manufacturing units are still functioning in the houses of the area.
"This is a residential area, but if some work is going on in it, then how would we be able to know that? There's some kind of work going in this residential area and administration has no information about it. We are unable to find any information about this factory, too," he added.
No casualties have been reported in the incident so far.
The reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained, but investigations are on into the matter. (ANI)
