Nainital, May 2 (ANI): With the aim of attracting youth towards adventure sports and to make them aware of its scope, the adventure-tourism wing of the tourism authority of Uttarakhand organising a five-day-long mountain-biking camp for school children at Nainital.
Students from 22 schools are participated in the ongoing camp.
The camp emphasised on imparting training about various safety measures that are to be taken while carrying out this sport and also in exploring the mountain-trails of the state.
"We are organising the mountain biking training so that the youth would be aware of this thrilling adventure sport. In our state, lots of tourists would be coming and they would be able to enjoy this sport. We are also focusing on exploring all mountain trails and to make them popular," said Lata Bisht, adventure sports officer, Nainital.
The students said the camp helped them in gaining more information about the sport as well as about the state.
"First of all adventure sports is my hobby and the second thing is that here there are a lot of tourist places. So, we can opt this as our employment area. Now, would be able to tell people about this and also about the facilities that are available here," said Jagdish Joshi, a student.
The camp commenced on April 29 and would continue till May 3.
Uttarakhand is a major tourist-destination of the country, with adventure-tourism sharing a major portion.
The tourism authority of the state has formed a separate wing for promoting adventure-sports, which is conducting various training camps across the state to capture youth's attraction towards this. (ANI)
