Lucknow, Apr 27 (ANI): Alleging that central funds under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) were not being properly utilized in Uttar Pradesh, Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said an application under the Right to Information Act (RTI) has been moved on the issue.
"An RTI has been moved regarding NRHM as proper utilisation of funds is not being done here. This is the reason I have come here," Gandhi told reporters outside the NRHM office here.
The Gandhi scion further said a copy of the RTI application would be circulated later.
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi filed an Right to Information (RTI) application to know how Central funds are being utilised in Uttar Pradesh.
Bahuguna Joshi filed the application at the NHRM state unit here in the presence of Rahul Gandhi.
The move comes after murder of two Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), who were dealing with the NHRM funds.
"That is the concern...there is misappropriation of funds here, so we wanted to understand where these funds are going and what's happening," said Gandhi, when asked about the murder of the two CMOs.
While CMO Vinod Arya was shot dead in October last, CMO B P Singh was gunned down in posh Gomti Nagar area in the state capital on April two this year while taking morning stroll. (ANI)
