Srinagar, Mar 15 (ANI): After 22 years, the Winter Games Association in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, organised a 20-day ski-mountaineering expedition.
The expedition consisted of a five-member-team from Germany and five mountaineers from Kashmir.
Oliver Alefeld, who headed the German team, said they had heard a lot about the mountains of Kashmir.
"This is an unknown region for us. We have read articles in the newspaper that some of the mountains around here are gorgeous. We are trying to climb Mount Kolahoi with Kashmiri mountaineers which is very challenging"
The expedition would go from Srinagar to Pahalgam, and would undertake a ski-tour to Mount Kolahoi.
Kashmiri mountaineers believe the activity would boost tourism and would also encourage youngsters.
Firdous Khan, a mountaineer from Kashmir, said: "I want that these kind of programmes to happen because it will develop tourism, and will encourage youngsters to participate" (ANI)
