Mumbai, Mar 13 (ANI): The Budget Session of Maharashtra Legislature, which begins here on Monday, is likely to be a stormy affair with the Shiv Sena-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) combine Opposition likely to take on the government on a number of issues including corruption and the murder of Additional District Collector Yashwant Sonawane.
Tomorrow's Budget Session will be the first for Prithviraj Chavan, who was sworn in as the Chief Minister in November last year in the wake of the Adarsh Housing society scam.
Chavan is not a member of either house of the state legislature. Congress MLC and Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) General Secretary Sanjay Dutt has tendered his resignation and vacated his legislative council seat to pave way for the election of Prithviraj Chavan.
Moreover, the Opposition is likely to pull up the Chief Minister over Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh's recent remarks in the Rajya Sabha, where he blamed his junior Minister Chavan for omitting to mention the charge-sheeting of P.J. Thomas in the file put up to the three-member panel to consider the official's suitability for the post of Central Vigilance Commissioner.Jaitapur Nuclear power project issue and the rising inflation are the other issues, which are likely to be cropped up during the Budget Session.
