Chelsea now eyeing to sign Real Madrid midfielder Kaka

London , Sun, 06 Mar 2011 ANI

London, Mar 6(ANI): Chelsea is reportedly set to continue its spending spree this summer with a move for Real Madrid midfielder Kaka.

According to The Independent, galvanized by the acquisitions of Fernando Torres and David Luiz for a combined 75 million pounds, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is keen to splash the cash again and sees the Brazilian as his marquee signing.

Kaka played the best club football of his career when Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti managed him at Milan, but has failed to light up the Santiago Bernabeu in the way he once did at the San Siro.

The high-profile deal may involve Chelsea striker Didier Drogba being offered to Madrid in part-exchange.

Kaka, who had won the Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year awards in 2007, had joined Madrid for a world record fee of 56 million pounds, smashing the previous record of Zidane, 49 million pounds.

His record was later broken by Cristiano Ronaldo when he joined Madrid for a fee of 80 million pounds.

The 28-year-old's current contract with Madrid doesn't expire until 2015. (ANI)
