Australia aims to top Group A

Sydney , Sun, 06 Mar 2011 ANI

Sydney, Mar 6 (ANI): Third placed Australia hopes of clinching top spot in Group A of the World Cup despite having one point from their washed-out clash with Sri Lanka.

Australia has five of a possible six points from three games. Sri Lanka is second with five points from four matches and Pakistan is on top with three wins from three games.

Australia face Kenya and Canada on March 13 and 16 in Bangalore before playing Pakistan in Colombo three days later.

A loss to Pakistan could plunge Australia to third and a possible quarter-final against India in Ahmedabad.

"We've got two of the minnow teams coming up in the next week, so hopefully we can get the results we require out of those games and then we know we've got to come back here and play what looks to be a very good Pakistan side," Ponting said.

Ponting further said that said he was "not entirely pleased" with one point.

"Hopefully we can continue to win a few more games and hopefully not getting two points out of this game won't affect us," he said. (ANI)
