PCB to discuss Warne's 'tie' prediction of India-England WC match in ICC meeting

Lahore , Fri, 04 Mar 2011 ANI

Lahore, Mar 4(ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt has said the PCB will discuss Australian spin legend Shane Warne's "strange" prediction that the India-England World Cup match would culminate in a tie, in the next International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting.

"Doesn't it sound strange that he should predict it would be a tie. At the next meeting of the ICC board we would certainly like this issue to be discussed," the Daily Times quoted Butt, as telling reporters.

The recent spate of controversies involving corruption in cricket meant that the tweet, made hours before the match, had to be discussed in detail, he added.

Butt said the matter should be strictly dealt with, and that Pakistan would discuss this issue in the ICC meeting to be held in Mumbai.

India and England set alight the 2011 World Cup on Sunday after a record-breaking run-feast ended in a dramatic tie on the last ball of the match played at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.

Warne had predicted the result via micro-blogging website Twitter before the match began. "Looking forward to the game between India and England, today should be a cracker. My prediction [is] a tie!" he wrote on Twitter.

After the match was over, Warne wrote: "Can't believe my prediction 7/8 hours ago was right ... didn't think it would happen but hey, not bad." (ANI)
